Trick or Treat? Makati closes off Paseo de Roxas for another culinary Street Meet!

Scary ghouls and goblins, jack-o-lanterns and witches will descend upon Paseo de Roxas, promising not just tricks but also lots of treats at the Makati Street Meet this 23rd of October.

Makati will once again prove its distinct city vibe and vibrant community spirit as it transforms an iconic business avenue into a culinary street meet.  A strip of Paseo de Roxas will again be closed as Make It Makati hosts its second Street Meet, bringing together gastronomic delights, a kiddie fun fair and great entertainment for all.

Amidst the trick and treating, musical performances and family activities await everyone at the Makati Street Meet, which promises to delight everyone with spook-tacular experiences and lots of really good food.

Building on the community spirit and the district’s fun vibe, the Halloween Street Meet brings together residents and their guests in a street activity the Makati way. The Street Meet will feature a curated selection of vendors from the famed Salcedo weekend market, a much-loved Makati tradition. Nearby are the iconic landmarks Makati has been known for, now serving as the background to a fun Halloween street experience.

That’s because from 3PM until 9PM, Paseo de Roxas, the stretch adjacent to the Ayala Triangle Gardens, will become a giant Halloween village—frighteningly fun yet a secure, pedestrian-friendly playground for the young and young at heart. Children and their parents can run from their homes straight to the event grounds in their Halloween costumes, enjoying the benefits of living at the center of fun and dynamism.

“Halloween is always fun for kids, so we brought this tradition to Paseo de Roxas, and made it even better. We’d like the Makati community to enjoy this time-honored activity, right here where they live,” said Shiella Aguilar, Project Development Manager of Makati.

Halloween party goers can look forward to a wide range of activities at the Spooky Halloween Town featuring a Hideous Parlor, Masquerade Ball, Wishing Cauldron, Houdini’s Escape Challenge, Magic Monster Photo, Mini Monsters’ Pets, Imaginary Beasts and many more by Hedcen.  There will also be an Outdoor Classroom by PlayWorks, Decoupage by LaPomme and an exhibit on the Tungtong River Conservation at the Ayala Triangle Gardens.

For those who simply want to enjoy the good food and lounge around, an Earth Music Jam and other musical performances await guests throughout the evening.

An assortment of treats can be enjoyed from Salcedo Market vendors who will serve up their signature offerings– baked goods, artisanal delights, hometown favorites, and the most luscious concoctions whipped up by homegrown chefs and foodies.

Participating food vendors are Monster Burger, Elbert’s Sandwiches, Saikuro Steak, La Cuisine, Old Fashion Tapa House, Chicken Inasal, Jiro’s Lechon, No Fat No Glory, Llanes Farm, Delicane, The Commissary Kitchen, Authentic House of Curry, Merry Moo, Gostoso Piri Piri, Milea Bee Farm, Rafik Shawarma, Don Churro, Easternbloc Inc., Manong’s Bagnet, Michelle’s homemade putong ube atbp., Rita’s Kitchen, Bersi Gyros Shawarma, Tuna Town seafood place, SCM Beverage, Stanford Shaw Brew, Cheryl’s Cuisine, Margarita’s Paella, Antipolo Delicacies, Pamangan, Bread Basic, and Haici Food Services.

The Makati Street Meet promises fun and excitement and the street vibe that is distinctly, uniquely Makati’s—the locus of the best food, entertainment and lifestyle offerings. This Halloween Street Experience will also showcase the city’s efforts to increase walkability in the area by providing fun-filled activities that encourage people to actively use its streets.

“The Makati Street Meet is another great way to let people discover that there’s lots to do and enjoy just by walking and exploring the streets of the city,” said Aguilar.
The Makati Street Meet is supported by Alveo and Hunt and Gather.

Admission to the street party activities is FREE on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED basis. For more information about the city that makes it happen, visit www.makeitmakati.com or like and follow Make It Makati on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

TMNT Out of the Shadows

Since I was in my elementary days I am an avid fan of four awesome green heroes who loves pizza. These ninjas were my idols ever since. From Leo’s leadership, Donnie’s intelligence, Mikey’s goofiness and of course Raph’s aggressiveness. The last time I was able to watch them in television was year 1996. When these green guys are back in screen by 2003 I introduced them to my girls, just like me they loved them! Luckily hubby also likes these half shell heroes. 🙂

The return of these turtles by 2012 in NICKELODEON was timely to me having a little boy. And yes, they are one of his favorite TV characters. He likes them all especially Raphael. When asked why, “Because he is strong!” Haha

Last 2014, Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount Pictures released a reboot movie entitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The clip our family liked the most was when they were in the elevator and performed a short rap. 😀 My little boy even asked me to have it downloaded in his tablet. That movie was his favorite for almost 2 months!!!

This 2016, we got really excited as they released a sequel entitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. We definitely wouldn’t miss watching it in the big screen.

Luckily for us, as we checked Nick-asia.com, they were giving away FREE tickets for 4, for the Premier Movie Screening. And yes, we WON!!! Woot! Woot! The kids were so excited and can’t hardly wait, oh well,  OK, I admit, I was MORE excited than they are! 😀  But then as we were still overwhelmed by winning the tickets, I got a word from Richprime Global Inc. that on that same day, they, together with Nickelodeon and Toy Kingdom will launch an unveiling of the Turtles. Who can get luckier than we did. 😉

On June 1, 2016, the Mall Atrium at the SM Mall of Asia was turned into GROUND ZERO NEW YORK. It was like you really are in New York. They set up a maze for the kids, and a small obstacle race track.

There was a short trivia game for the Ninja Turtle Fans. My little boy get to win a prize too. 🙂

There are also merchandises up for grabs, shirts, action figures, even plushies! So cute!

At the other side, they placed a mini-game for the kids. The Laser Lockdown Challenge. It was a dark room with lasers. Kids need not to touch or get hit by the lasers in order to get outside. I wasn’t able to get inside, – too many kids inside – and taking pictures inside with flash will ruin their playing experience. 🙂

Finally! The much awaited unveiling!

BOLDER. BIGGER. BADDER.

It was like the real thing!!! They are really huge! People just can’t get enough and took their selfies & groufies with these life-size turtles.

After much excitement from the big reveal, next stop was the cinema. As we fall in line to claim our tickets, we were greeted by a bunch of ninjas. These ninjas are very friendly and talented. They danced, performed a few tricks and allowed kids to have their picture taken with them.

The best part aside from the movie were the FREEBIES!!! Popcorn, candies, chocolates PLUS games for kids! It was so much fun! 🙂 The movie was GREAT! My little boy got hooked on it. I was amazed at how he got to understand the movie. Maybe it was just because these TURTLES really amazes him.

Once again, thank you so much to Nickelodeon Asia for the movie ticket give-away and Richprime Global Inc and Toy Kingdom Ph for the activities during the TMNT Unveiling. Cowabunga!!!

A book to sleep: Diego and Marie

Our second blog entry for A Book to Sleep. The first book we read was entitled On the Move. This time we read a book from Adarna House. 13720584_1081133035300933_66489231_o I got this book as a giveaway from our previous event with Educating for Life, it is a group that promotes homeschooling. 🙂

This book is actually for children ages 6 and above, but since we read his old books over and over, I thought I can read it to him at least for a night. (We read this almost a month ago.)

This book will bring your kids to 5 different places.

The characters of the story are Marie (a cat) and Diego (a goat). These two are close friends. The story begins as this two starts to play a guessing game. Marie thought of a place that Diego will never ever guess. Marie tells Diego that this place is warm and cozy. Her friend’s first guess was the Restaurant’s Kitchen.

13692148_1081133021967601_1541220685_o

He told Marie that is the warmest place he had ever been. But Marie said that it’s not that place, the kitchen is way too hot. Next clue she gave was that it has a bell-ringing sound. Diego thought of a place he’d been with a bell-ringing sound. And he led her to it.

13728333_1081133011967602_1547502276_o

Diego brought Marie to the church because it has ringing bells! But, he was still wrong. The church’s bells rings too loud, and can’t be Marie’s home.

13694208_1081125548635015_124608371_o

Diego said that the game was too hard. Marie gave him another clue. It is warm, has a bell-ringing sound and is covered with hair. (‘Can you imagine now what’s this place?’ ) 😉

Next stop is the Barber Shop. Diego said that it has chimes that rings and blowers that heats and there are hairs on the floor.

13692257_1081125531968350_1758318885_o

Still, Diego’s answer is wrong. Marie told him that her place has white hair not black. She gave her last clue — it gives her milk!

Diego finally knew what place he is guessing. He showed Marie the ice cream cart in the street. Diego said that ice creams have milk and the sweetest. It also has a bell that rings. But no warmth and white hair.

13728444_1081132995300937_1121742655_o

Finally, Diego gave in. He can’t seem to guess a place that has milk, warmth, white hair and a bell that rings. Marie gave Diego one last clue. This place smells exactly like her.

Diego smelled her and said Marie smelled like powder. Just then his nose caught the same smell. A mommy cat slowly came by.

13699342_1081132988634271_239503528_o

“A place can also be a spot like the arms of mom!”

This story will bring your kid around the community as they use their five senses. The sense of sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch.

Raix enjoyed the story. We read this for almost a week and not only before going to sleep. 😀  He was pretty attached with the barber shop. Which also helped me to convince him to have his hair cut before the start of classes.

Mommies, for the whole story you may go check this Adarna Book on any local bookstores. Till our next book to sleep.

Hot Wheels Epic Race THE FINALS 2016

Summer’s over but our family still can’t get enough of our little boy’s Epic Experience. Few weeks ago I posted about our epic racing experience, now it finally came to an end.

Our little boy, was one of the 20 qualifiers for the EPIC RACE FINALS, along with 40 more kids from the South and the North of Luzon. My kiddo and I were very excited and even counted our number of sleeps before the Big Day.

During the semi-finals, kids were given a time to warm-up their cars by participating in various activities: building tracks, jumping on loops and racing with their friendly competitors.

The area was jam-packed! Parents and kids alike are excited and thrilled to once again try their luck on the Gravity Racing Platform.

Give it up for our 35 finalists! They are moving on to the FINAL Round.

13340534_1050515735029330_1617866730_o

We made it once again to the final round!!! Woohoo! Finalists are to be back the following day for the last and final round.

On the day of the big event, Toy Kingdom had a few more competitions for our kids and dads. The competition, named as Track Wars, is inline with the Hot Wheels’ new product The Track Builder System.

 Winners from the mini competition.

The 35 kids gave their very best for the Final Round. All hopes were up as they release their cars as the host shout for GO! But there can only be 1 EPIC Record breaker. Congratulations Richmonde Borja! 🙂
