Event Alert: How to Setup A Food Distribution Business

I remembered during the first years that hubby and I are living together, we were already planning of what business we would start up. My in-laws are very much into the entrepreneurship world. When I met their son they have a few stalls here at the Pasay Public Market. Some stalls sold fruits, others are shoes and slippers and anything in season starting from Valentines Day until the Christmas Season. 🙂

I am thankful to them for teaching me the basics in handling a business. They would give us a small capital to run our own stall during the peak seasons like All Souls Day, Christmas and New Year! It was quite a change a change in lifestyle so I say you have to hands-on 24/7. As a couple we have to take turns in manning the store and taking care of our daughter.

Running your own business is never easy there will be times that you lose some just because of different factors. With that we tend to lose hope and stop na lang before we even lose more. Now, after years of doing trial and error with different businesses, I came to a conclusion that here in our country one of the best business to put up is — FOOD!

Why? Because Pinoys are food lovers! We enjoy munching and eating atleast 4-5 times a day, breakfast, AM snack, lunch, PM snack and dinner. Pinoys are also in the look-out for new types of food, may it be Korean, Japanese or Mexican foods. In today’s generation, there are a lot of food parks emerging almost in every city in the Metro. An advantage for food biz owners to be known and be discovered because believe me or not Pinoys are “gaya-gaya” or just plain “food adventurers”. They tend to be curious to try out new food hubs when they saw their friends trying it out. 🙂

Event Alert: The Freelancer Fair 2017

I have been in the freelancing world for almost 2 years now. This is the kind of job that I wanted to be in at least for about 10 more years from now. Profit-wise I can say that for now, what I earn is just a little extra for my family. But I am looking forward to try to earn more like the other freelancers I know. 🙂 What I really love about this job is that I can get to stay at home and take care of my family but most of all is — FREEDOM.

 SPELLING OUT FREEDOM WITH FREELANCING

What comes to mind when you think of Freelancing? Do you see it as merely a sideline job or as what we Filipinos informally call ‘Raket’? By common definition, Freelancing is when you are self-employed, by offering your skills and services to clients or businesses, without necessarily being bounded to a single employer or a long-term contract. If you haven’t dipped your toes in Freelancing, then perhaps now is the time to consider.
Did you know that according to Upwork, a leading global online jobs platform, the Philippines is the third highest – earning country in the world when it comes to freelancing? In fact, more than 1.4 million Filipinos are registered in the platform alone!

With the sheer power of that number, it only attests to an overwhelming number of individuals who have found their fulfillment and achieved their #Lifegoals in Freelancing. This is not to ignore that like any other profession or job, Freelancing does have its own unique struggles, but if you’re the kind of person who wishes to feel and be more empowered in one or in all aspects of your life, then allow us to sum up what Freelancing can give you: F-R-E-E-D-O-M. And yes, we do intend to spell it out literally, by giving you our take of what that word means in the world of Freelancing. So if you’re an aspiring freelancer or entrepreneur, or avoiding a potential bout of “FOMO”, then read on!

1) F – lexibility and Autonomy
We live in the Digital Age, so it should come as no surprise the technologies that can allow us to work anytime and anywhere, and provide services to clients from anywhere in the globe! Say goodbye to long commutes and hello to telecommuting! Also, the nature of Freelancing can give you the flexibility and autonomy to work at your own pace and choose the clients and projects you want to work on.

2) R – ewarding Career
Who says that Freelancing can’t be a career or profession? For many who have gone this route, it has paved way for them to pursue their dream jobs without the constraints of a fixed job description or the frustration of being stuck in a mundane ‘9-5’ office job. As a self-employed professional, you are fully empowered to pursue projects that would nurture your skills and passions.

3) E – ndless possibilities
As a freelancer, there is no limit to the opportunities and possibilities you can pursue, now that you have full control of your career, profession and time. Whereas before, the most part of your day and energy would be spent in long energy-draining meetings and long commutes, Freelancing lets you color and fill each day with activities that you consider truly aligned in attaining your life goals.

4) E – nables you to design your own lifestyle
Are you a night owl who is most productive in the evenings? Dreamed of having your own 4-Hour Work Week? Or what about getting down to finally working on that business plan for your dream start-up? With Freelancing, you can get creative on how you design your typical week, that would specially cater to your unique personality, interests and quirks.

5) D – o things your way
Always had a need to be in full control of your work, surroundings and growth? Then Freelancing will definitely give you that! Being your own boss is one of the great perks of being a Freelancer, and that means getting things AND results done just the way you envisioned it.

6) O – wn your time
Ever wondered how it would be like to respond to emails in your swimwear, with your toes brushing the sand as it points towards a breathtaking view of the beach? Well, in the Freelancing Handbook, you are free to take a vacation in the middle of the week, just as long as you get the job done and your clients happy. Becoming a Freelancer means taking full control of your time and schedule.

7) M – ake room for the people and things that truly matter
And here’s the most important part. Freelancing enables you to spend more time with your family, and other things that truly make life meaningful. With Freelancing, it has paved way for the rise of thousands of hands-on mommies, who find fulfillment in being able to nurture both their families and careers. Whilst for many others, they found it in more time spent in pursuing volunteer work, or in endeavors which define their passions and values.

There you have it. That’s how you spell Freedom with Freelancing!

And if you’re itching to learn more about the boundless opportunities of being a Freelancer, then you’re in luck. This year, Manila Workshops, with the support of the Department of Information Communications and Technology (DICT), will be holding the 2nd Freelancer Fair on Sept. 2, 2017, to be held at the Bayanihan Center, Pioneer, Pasig City. It is the country’s first and largest event for Freelancers, which would gather together freelancers, business owners and brands for a whole day of talks tackling the Freelancing Landscape and the different opportunities in store for both existing and aspiring freelancers. The theme for this year’s full day event is Cultivating Relationships, as inspired by the mission to cultivate, nurture and help more people discover how Freelancing can help them achieve their professional and personal goals.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH A FENG SHUI MASTER

When we hear the word “Feng shui”, either we remember that old horror movie by Kris Aquino, or we get a picture of a house being renovated in the hopes of changing the fortune of whoever lives there.

However, some would point out that they encounter the term “Feng shui” when the new year is about to start. This holds true as a lot of television shows would guest fortune tellers to give out their forecasts on what is to happen to our country, showbiz couples, and to our personal lives (depending on which year we were born). It is during the new year that a lot of people flock to fortune tellers, especially with Feng shui masters, to get an idea of what is to come, and how to attract good luck throughout the year.

What we are not aware of is that there are also people who consult the services of fortune tellers during the months of May until August, to get what is called “Mid-Year forecast”. In contrast to the whole year forecast where the scope is large, the mid year forecast tends to be more precise, given that the scope is just within 6 months.

A friend of mine tried testing a popular Feng shui master to experience how it’s like to have a consultation and to check out how accurate the reading would be. It was May of this year when my friend went to the office of Hanz Cua in Mandaluyong to have a consultation.

Hanz Cua is the Feng Shui master that provides Chinese Horoscopes to the viewers of Umagang Kay Ganda, a morning show being telecast in Abs-Cbn. Some would be familiar with him for being this very hyper and comical fortune teller that makes you wonder “how many coffees does he drink” each morning to get that level of energy. Dubbed as the youngest Feng shui master in the country, this person really does look young when he doesn’t sport a mustache, plus the fact that he seemed to still have those baby fats =).

“Master Hanz”, as he is popularly called, has an office located at the Cityland Building at the corner of St.Francis Street and Shaw Boulevard. For those coming from the MRT Shaw station, simply walk way past Crossings mall until you reach Lourdes School. The building should be at the left side, while Greenfield would be to the right.

Once inside the office, you would see various gold plated figures of horses, pigs, frogs, and various animals that are typically seen on stores selling good luck charms. It also has plenty of bracelets and wind chimes, said to attract good fortune when worn or placed at the front door. Master Hanz pointed out that the bracelets are customized, depending on the year the person was born.

My friend noticed that there are boxes below the desk of his staff that seem to store more items, which indicates that Master Hanz has plenty of patrons who order such items from him.

At the right side of the office is where Master Hanz conducts the reading. My friend chose to have a tarot reading among the many services that Master Hanz offers. Using what is called a “rider waite deck”(Anyone familiar with tarot reading? Please tell us what you know about this deck by dropping your comments below).

At the time of the reading, Master Hanz looks intimidating with his red robe that looks like he is some sort of an Emperor. His large chair also seems like it was carved to be seated only by the most special guests of a five-star hotel.

A general forecast was made first and then followed by a series of choosing a certain number of cards to answer different questions posted by my friend. At first, Master Hanz seemed serious but in between the questions, he would also talk about himself like some friend you accidentally met at a mall. As the reading progresses, the “hyper-ness”(if such word exists) that you see on the TV is slowly appearing which makes the tarot reading enjoyable. After more than 30 minutes, my friend no longer has any questions in mind and bade farewell.

Now, two months after the reading, two predictions by Master Hanz has already occurred. We can either think of it as a sign that Master Hanz is for real, or it might be another case of coincidence, but my friend surely believes it isn’t simply a coincidence and looks forward to pay Master Hanz a visit.

Luckily for my friend, Master Hanz conducts online fortune reading, so you don’t have to face the traffic of the metro and just schedule an appointment while at the comfort of your house.

If you want to try the accuracy of Master Hanz, you can contact him via text at this number: 0922 829 0382.
Similarly, you can check out his website at MasterHanzCua.com

Lastly, tell us about your experience with him at the comments below.

8 shocking facts about germs we bet you didn’t know about

Last month, I brought my son to his Pedia for a check-up. I got worried because he has cough & colds for 3 weeks already. I believe that it was viral infection so I started to double-up his intake of fruits but nothing changed.

His pedia told me that his coughs & colds were caused by viral infection. I might have exposed him to too much germs and pollution. This also triggered his asthma. Poor little boy now is under medication for three months. I thought I maybe unaware of where else we acquire bad germs.

Wherever you go, bacteria abounds. Many of these bacteria are able to cause malodour, skin infection and diseases such as diarrhea, cough, colds and the like.

Worse, these bacteria are increasingly hardier, dirtier, and can multiply faster than you expect, therefore putting your family members at risk.

Consider these troubling facts about bacteria:

1. The number of bacteria that live in and on us outnumber our own human cells by ten to one.
safeguard1

2. Common cold, flu and stomach viruses can live on the fingertips for hours and can survive on the surfaces of objects for days.
safeguard2

3. 80% of all infections, from the common cold and flu to venereal disease and Ebola fever, are transmitted by people touching one another or touching objects that others have touched.
safeguard3

4. A shopping cart can contain more fecal E. Coli than a supermarket toilet.
safeguard4

5. One study found that in schools, water fountain buttons, pencil sharpeners, keyboards and faucet handles were the most contaminated objects with viruses.
safeguard5

6. Phones have been found to have up to 4200 bacteria from fecal contamination. Safe drinking water should have less than 1 bacteria per 100ml.safeguard6

7. In an environment as humid as a bathroom, a single bacterial cell can multiply into one billion cells overnight.
safeguard7

8. When someone comes to work sick, about half of the commonly touched surfaces in the office will become infected with the virus by lunchtime.
safeguard8

In light of this disturbing data, it is imperative for all members of the household, especially children, to use the right kind of soap that can kill these germs effectively and prevent their regrowth.
Unfortunately, not all soaps are created equal. Experts have demonstrated that most soaps do not protect their family from modern day germ threats. Protection from germ threats begin with proper handwashing and bathing using an effective antibacterial soap like Safeguard.

safeguard9

Safeguard with Germshield+ technology can fight a broad spectrum of gram positive and gram-negative bacteria and fungi, preventing more types of sickness, malodour, and skin infection. Moreover, Germshield+ technology inhibits the regrowth of these bacteria and fungi for up to 24 hours, thereby providing optimal protection.

For over 50 years in the Philippines, Safeguard has been recommended by the leading health experts for germ protection for the entire family. Encouraging proper hygiene, frequent handwashing, and the use the Safeguard will make your job as protector of the family easier and more effective.

Our family always uses SAFEGUARD, I thought my little boy is too young to use safeguard for his hands and body. But I am wrong, now, he uses Safeguard Soap and Safeguard Body Wash. He loves the one in Honey Smash Scent. 🙂 Now I am confident he is 99.9% Germ Protected! 😉
